It is with regret that the decision has been made by the Directors of Able Types Limited and the Trustees of the charity Employment for the Disabled that Able Types will cease trading by 31st May 2013. Many of our staff have now left us and we are currently in the process of settling our accounts and clearing the premises before full closure by the end of May.

Below is a statement from our Chairman:

After 32 years of business, Able Types has with great sadness decided to close itself down. It was set up by Ali Clarke in 1981, originally with a view to supporting unemployed people with disabilities to acquire skills and have gainful employment. It later expanded its remit to cater for people with other employment challenges.

Able Types has been a very successful company; providing meaningful work to many, and valuable office services to a wide range of Oxford organisations. The Trustees (Able Types is owned by Employment for the Disabled, a charity) and Directors wish to thank all those people and organisations who have contributed so much to making it successful over such a long period. But they recognise that with the continuing economic downturn and the proliferation of electronic communications, the business is no longer sustainable.

We will be continuing with a skeleton staff to complete current orders and see how best our staff can find other suitable employment before we finally close in May.

For anyone else who wishes to offer support to staff or help dispose of our equipment please contact John Sullivan, Managing Director, on 01865 244114 or at:

Sam Clarke, Chairman.

I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of myself and our staff, past and present, to thank all of our customers and supporters. Without your support, we could not have accomplished so much, benefiting so many people, for so many years.

Yours Sincerely

John Sullivan, Managing Director
